Not-So-Fearless Leader

Let me open by saying that I am not a teacher.  I organize a Bible study.  I might even feel comfortable saying that I lead a Bible study.  I would not feel comfortable saying that I am a teacher.  That title carries an authority that I do not have.  It also incenuates that I know what the heck I’m talking about.  I am not a Bible scholar.  As a matter of fact, I’ve only been reading the Bible regularly for a few years.  I am a hunter and gatherer of information, and then I dispense the best of what I’ve gathered.  With all of that said, I would like to issue this warning:  Absorb at your own risk!

Looking back to the spring of 2009, I had no idea that I would be the ring-leader of such an amazing group of women.  I had no idea what God had in store for me.  I stepped out on a limb having no clue what the path ahead looked like.  Uncharted territory is just that – uncharted.  Had I known that the path included so much “God stuff” and Bible studies, I probably would have freaked out and ran the other way.  I would not have felt equipped.  As it turns out, I am more than equipped.  God has taken care of me every step of the way and in most cases, cleared the path.  With His wind in my sails, the course is set!  That doesn’t mean that I haven’t tried to pirate the ship in my own direction and it doesn’t mean that I haven’t made mistakes along the way.  I can tell you that those mistakes help me realize the mercy of my God.

God knows that He is dealing with a mess.  It’s like He is all-knowing.. wait- He is!  Because He is all knowing, be comforted when he has placed something in front of you.  Instead of spending time explaining why this isn’t meant for you, try spending some time listening to how He wants you to do it!  When there is a will – God’s will, there is a way – God’s way.  I fall short.  I mess up.  I stick my foot in my mouth a zillion times a day.  I need a bigger closet to store all of my skeletons.  If church were a business, my resume is not the one at the top of the pile, but God still uses me and my imperfection.  Anything good that you see in me is the Christ in me.

Friend, God has a plan for you, too.  If you ever doubt that God can use you or that you are too broken, track me down.  I would love to share stories of my past and talk about my walk with you.  I can’t promise that his plan is easy or that it won’t challenge you.  I can’t promise that He will shout step-by-step instructions every step of the way. With your Bible and the Holy Spirit, you have the best tools available to craft your ship.  Put on your righteusness and wade out into His tide to see what He has instore for you!
